I demand a remake.

I'd eschew my boycott of movie theaters to see this story done well.

With the plethora of horror movies out there that don't NEED to be remade, yet somehow end up being remade, I think the time is right for a new version of THE GIRL IN A SWING.

It's one of my favorite books; it could be truly something in the right hands, with the right cast.

The 1989 movie was just utterly, utterly awful. Two words sum up its awfulness: Meg Tilly.

What should have been a dreamy, brooding, HAUNTING movie was turned into shrieky schlock.

I've put this idea in front of one independent director already.

Really, you can't just blame the awfulness of The Girl in a Swing on Meg Tilly, can you? I mean, that would be like blaming the complete and utter failure of any Ashton Kutcher movie on... okay, bad example. But go take a quick look at Gordon Hessler's resume over on IMDB and tell me that this was a book that begged to be adapted by the guy who made... any movie on that list. (And when you pick one to fill in, I bet you five bucks I know which one it is.)

I know, I know. Gordon was not guiltless. But with any other actress, his worst crime would be to make GIAS boring, rather than unbearable.

I've actually got a sentimental attachment to his MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE, so maybe I'm too biased.
